ICHIROS MALT DOUBLE DISTILLERIES JAPANESE PURE MALT WHISKY ABV 46.5% 700ML

The Chichibu Distillery has always honoured its family traditions. This whisky is a living testament to that. This is a blended malt from the Chichibu Distillery, built by Ichiro Akuto that combines it's own whisky with that from his Grandfather, Isouji Akuto's, Hanyu Distillery that was built in 1941 and closed in 2000.  That makes this a rare, desirable and complex combination of Sherry matured Hanyu and Chicibu matured In Japanese oak. 

On the nose you're greeted with ripe red apple and honey suckle reminiscent of the sweet waft from a newly opened jar of honey.  With the palate a more spicy sweetness presents itself - with cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger dancing across the palate rounding off with a smooth oak presence manifesting in a wafer like linger.  The medium length finish gradually turns more bittersweet as the sweet spices of cinnamon and nutmeg develop to a liquorice finish.

Colour:  Deep gold.       

Nose: Sweet honey suckle, milk chocolate, figs and red apple. It is well rounded with oak, and holds a kiss of vanilla and biscuits notes.

Palate: Sweet spices of cinnamon, nutmeg and a little ginger dance across your palate at first, with a warming wave of honeyed malt that follows. Licks of oak linger and create an overall silky but spicy mouthfeel.

Finish: The finish is medium length with bittersweet notes of oak, mint, liquorice and ginger.
