Hellyers Road 19 Year Old Voyager Cask 20F10c03 700ML ABV 57%

The name Voyager is apt for this special cask release. Crafted at the Distillery on Tasmania’s northwest coast, this single malt was distilled and filled into American Oak casks (from Kentucky Tennessee) in 2003 where it matured for 16 years. Secondary maturation in a single French Oak cask (used for wine and liqueur maturation) for 3 more years added exceptional character and distinction.

TASTING NOTES

NOSE – Warm stewed apricots present followed by toffee notes, marmalade and shortbread accompaniments. With time, hints of ginger snaps and mandarin florals emerge with Armagnac whispers.

PALATE - With immediacy, the palate is taunted by power and intensity that favours the bold. Stewed fruits and ginger abound with fervour before a veil of subtle sultanas, courtesy of the secondary maturation in French oak, descends with delicacy and restraint.

FINISH - Building in character from the onset, this whisky is a showcase of power and poise that leaves an indelible mark on the palate. A measured retreat ensues with reassuring balance and depth leading to a lengthy finish.
